Getting Tired of Fruitless Job Hunt? 5 Tips to Cheer You Up

If you are a recent fresh graduate, there are chances that you are familiar with the struggle of landing a job. This might be the hardest period for you when you have attended couples prospective interviews but received zero job offers. While being unemployed is a depressing experience, you should keep the faith that your hardwork will be eventually paid off someday as long as you have the motivation to keep going and never give up easily.

The problem is, encouraging yourself during the down times might not be as easy as it sounds. Amidst the rejection letters and failed interviews, you find it easier to feel disheartened and tired when reality bites. When you are having a hard time with your job hunt, it is important to stay persistent and take even the smallest chances. If you need some encouragement to cheer you up, here are several tips you should do to regain your composure:

Take a break

When it feels you hit the wall, you should stop and take a break for a while. You can refresh your mind by going somewhere to live up your moods. Places with green scenery such as garden, mountain, forest, or other natural wonders will be great for your short escape. When the energy is fully-charged, you can continue the job hunt.

Read motivational books

Reading books is a positive activity to recharge your mind while expanding your knowledge at once. Motivational readings will show you that you are not the only one struggling to find a job out there. Life lessons contained in the books can help you learn about how to cope with your current condition and stay motivated to take the next steps.

Invest in learning

Maybe the reason why you are not hired is simply because you do not have the skills or expertise that the companies needed. That being said, all you have to do is filling the skill-gap by investing more in learning. You do not have to go back to school and spend more money to pursue higher education. Nowadays, the internet has made it easier if you want to learn new skills independently.

Explore new opportunities

Don’t worry, as Japanese proverb says, “Fall seven times, stand up eight!” When one opportunity closes, another opens! Different companies are always recruiting and all you need to do is applying for them. When you apply to several companies but none seems interested in hiring you, your struggle should not end here as you always try the other chances.

Never say ‘later’

Check your commitment to finding a job. When your friend inform you about a job opening that suits your interests, have you ever responded, “Thanks, I will check it out later”? Well, if you do, then you have to change this attitude. You should keep in mind that staying calm during a job hunt does not necessarily mean that you can be plain lazy. Take all the chances while you can as soon as possible to win the job search competition.
