Have you heard about World Kindness Day, which is celebrated this week? Observed annually on November 13, World Kindness Day is a day when individuals are encouraged to share happiness and do good deeds by performing acts of kindness. Growing number of people and organizations are participating in the day's festivities by doing something nice for one another. Kindness is powerful, even the smallest act can have ripple effects throughout societies. If you want to celebrate the day and spread joy, here are some random acts of kindness that will make your work more enjoyable.
1 . Good Morning!
Wait, what, a greeting? You may be wondering what a greeting has to do with an act of kindness, but it is actually the smallest form of kindness you can give. Sometimes, your coworker may have a very rough morning from the moment he or she wakes up, making it a bit hard to put on a smile when showing up at work. To know that someone actually greets him or her arrival surely would be a nicer way to fix the early morning inconvenience. So, have you said “Good morning!” to your coworkers today? If you have not, make sure you do tomorrow!
2 . Do you know why Windows released Windows 10 after Windows 8?
Because seven ate nine. You may think that this is a very lame joke, but this kind of joke, when uttered randomly, can actually distract you from a bad mood. You may not laugh hearing a lame joke and your coworkers will agree, but even the most random joke is better than no joke at all. One of the random acts of kindness is telling a joke. If you crack a joke and your coworker laughs, you give him or her a tiny bit of joy in the workplace. However, if your coworker does not laugh, you have at least given him or her the feeling of being seen. Now, try to tell this joke to the coworkers sitting next to you and see how they react!

3 . Suffer Together
It is NOT as scary as it sounds; suffering together can be in the form of bringing a cup of coffee or brewing a cup of hot tea on Monday morning to your closest coworkers. It is not a lie that sometimes, being positive every day is tiring. There is no shame in feeling blue doing a job you actually love. People often find it hard to admit this or to tell their peers, so this usually remains unsaid. Go get your coworker a cup of tea or coffee. You can tell them that you are not ready for Monday too, but at least you have tea or coffee and you let them have it too. Who knows they actually have Monday blues and can feel like they are valued by your gesture? Even if they ‘suffer’, they know they do not suffer alone. On the other hand, if they have no problem with Mondays, they will see this random act of kindness as a nice touch to kick start their week!
4 . After You!
What does opening the door to your coworkers have to say about kindness? A lot, actually. Another random gesture that can make your coworkers’ day a bit better is an assistance they never thought they needed. Even though they may be more than capable of opening and closing the door on their own, it feels strangely nice to have someone to do it for them once in a while. This can be really helpful too if you see them having extra bags or holding a cup of coffee when they are about to enter or exit the office building. The kindness reflected from this gesture is beyond the act itself; it says a lot about you ‘getting their back’ in the least expected way. No need to stand by the door all the time; simply walk next to your coworkers and run to the door to open it then say “after you”.
Kindness is not about grandiose things like giving care packages, treating your coworkers with the latest piece of fashion they like, or buying a large pan of pizza for your office mates to enjoy. Sometimes, small and random acts of kindness can be what your coworkers need and will make their work more enjoyable. The best thing about this? Doing these random acts of kindness will bring you a better peace of mind and make work more enjoyable for you too. Happy World Kindness Day, kind people!
